 We are delighted that the Duchess of Cornwall will be able to visit our beautiful new theatre ? the first of its kind in London ? and see our work in action. Here at Unicorn we are committed to creating imaginative, resonant theatre for children and for all of us. Her Royal Highness? support of and involvement with our theatre illustrates the importance of the Unicorn and the immense value of theatre in the lives of young people across the country.

 The Rep has long been interested in acquiring a smaller, more intimate theatre in which we could produce smaller shows. Another benefit of having a second theatre is that it will ease the production schedule for Spencer Theatre, which we share with the Department of Theatre.

 Compare the cinema with theatre. Both are dramatic arts. Theatre brings actors before a public and every night during the season they re-enact the same drama. Deep in the nature of theatre is a sense of ritual. The cinema, by contrast, transports its audience individually, singly, out of the theatre towards the unknown.

 There are people within the RFU who are well aware of the implications. It is tremendous theatre but, as certain owners have said to me, hangings are exciting as long as you're not the person getting hanged. It's something we've got to sit down and talk about. Anything is on the table.

 Forget your generalized audience. In the first place, the nameless, faceless audience will scare you to death and in the second place, unlike the theatre, it doesn't exist.  I am so honored to have been asked to manage one of Los Angeles theatrical treasures, the Celebration Theatre. I look forward to bringing a new vitality to the theatre with its first subscription series of shows in over a decade and initiating a company of actors to create a vibrant family of artists at the theatre.

 [McNally's inspiration for the play came from the Manhattan Theatre Club who asked the playwright for a new work to mark the re-opening of the Biltmore Theatre, which had been derelict for 16 years.] It was so terrible a place, ... that people shuddered as they passed it. It's a miracle that it was left standing.

 This play has probably introduced more people to the theatre than any other play in New Jersey. Grandparents who first saw this play as children now bring their grandchildren, and every time it's always going to be a new experience because you get new insight into the story. It peaks the imagination which is what theatre is suppose to do.

 You cannot believe the ripple effect, ... For every person whose wish is chosen, they're meeting a need. And when needs are met, the walls come down between people. When needs are met, people allow themselves to be vulnerable, because things are happening that are important and necessary.

 We proceeded to start a professional theatre but not really knowing how to do it. As my mom said, 'The reason it succeeded is because we didn't know that we didn't know how to run a theatre.' Raleigh didn't have a strong professional theatre where you could see high-quality revivals. [Audiences] ate it up. We grew from there.

 It depends on the person. I'm open to meeting new people, so it is not an issue.

 Unless the theatre can ennoble you, make you a better person, you should flee from it.

 Our producing artistic director Peter Altman is a firm believer that live theatre needs to have a strong connection to the heart of the city. Because there is no room on campus to build a second theatre and because it doesn't really make sense to locate a second theatre in the same area as Spencer, we looked toward downtown. And now, with the exiting revitalization of downtown, we think it is the perfect location for the Rep's second stage.

 We will then announce our selection at the May meeting and hopefully have that person here at the meeting as well.
