 Small businesses tend to be too small to hire consultants to help meet safety regulations. Sometimes small business owners are afraid of getting on Labor and Industries' radar screen.

 We think that would be an appropriate use of the money, to help save small businesses that are the underpinnings of the state's economy.

 The typical oil producer is a small business with many of the same problems encountered by small businesses in the retail and manufacturing industries.

 The economy is firmly in expansion mode so the Bank of Canada will take rates higher. Higher short-term rates will push up yields.

 Lower tax rates would allow our businesses to grow at a much faster rate. It allows us to hire more people, to pay a higher wage, to invest more and to increase the pace, of course, at which our businesses can grow if we're not hampered by higher taxes.

 The question is what catalyst will get it going. My guess is more signs of a stronger economy. That might be higher interest rates, but you may need that to get small caps going. They may improve as the bond (goes down).

 The government has to regulate (differently) household customers whose electricity consumption is small. But for household customers of over 10 thousand watt, businesses and industries, the government should negotiate the rates it is planning to raise.

 There's worry about higher interest rates. The bond market has been very weak, and we can assume the higher interest rates are signs of a rebounding economy. This gives people a feeling of comfort, but we also worry about how rates are going to go and whether it will crimp economic activity further down the road.

 Small businesses are the engine of our economic growth. This was true before Katrina, and it remains true as our small businesses move our economy forward as we rebuild from the greatest natural disaster in U.S. history, ... Since Hurricane Katrina first hit our shores, 53,900 businesses have asked for Washington's help, but so far only 58 of theses businesses have received any assistance. Washington has promised real help for the people of the Gulf Coast -- it is time to stop making promises and to start fulfilling them.

 Is there any reason why the American people should be taxed to guarantee the debts of banks, any more than they should be taxed to guarantee the debts of other institutions, including merchants, the industries, and the mills of the country?
