 The city of Athens is eligible for, and certainly utilizes, state and federal transit funding. The university is not eligible for those, so combining with the city has that advantage.  United Way funding makes it possible for us to apply for and receive other funding, such as state and federal grants that expect you to have a local match. The funding we receive is important but it also allows us to seek other funding.
