en It's been a long time. I'm kind of excited, kind of ready to get out and do a little something against real competition.

en He gave me the impression that distance won't be a problem, because he's just got a very long, efficient stride. He got in a real comfortable rhythm, and when I asked, he really finished. He was sad to go. He?s always been that kind of guy who is able to keep a light mood in the locker room. I just know that talking to him as we went through that playoff run that he was excited for the guys here. He really was. He is just that kind of guy -- a genuine kind of guy. But you could just sense that he wanted to be a part of it. And you just want those kind of guys in your locker room.

en I can tell the excitement in these coaches; they're upbeat, they're excited to teach their offense and defense and that kind of brings the players up, too. Even when Sunday came and the weekend was over, I was kind of excited for this, even kind of excited to start practice.

en I was happy making the new record, but I haven't been this excited to travel somewhere in a long time, ... That bus crash kind of killed any kind of travel for me, but this should be pretty sweet.

en I'm not going to go into exactly how I felt, ... Sometimes it doesn't work out. . . . But that's in the past. It's kind of a new chapter, but I'm really excited. I played in Colorado for a long time, 10 years. But the pages are turning and I'm really excited to be here.

en I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

en We play each other for a reason. We need this kind of competition to get ready for district. They need to get ready for the playoffs.

en While you all think I'm real pleasant all the time, I've got to see how he's going to react to me. Then, sometimes I do things purposely to get a reaction, just to see. To me, it's kind of like a series of tests. Then, after you pass these tests, you kind of know. You kind of know. Then all of a sudden, as I've said before, you give them the keys to the car and let them drive it.

en There were points in the race I thought I had it. But you never know how the other people are going to come into these races, what kind of shape they're in. We did that long uphill three times and I just didn't have the legs for it. When I started, I was feeling great, very excited and ready to go.

en I kid them all the time that I can't just throw 600 balls in batting practice every day. But [Tuesday] it kind of made it worth it. My arm's a little tired, but every time they'd get a hit, it kind of re-energized me. I'll be ready for BP again [today].

en Regardless if it is a Big Ten opponent or a non-Big Ten opponent, this time of the year the focus is still to get up and race. I'm awfully excited to see where we are right now in terms of racing. I'm looking forward to see what kind of speed we have right now. There's going to be some good competition out there.

en It's a real kind of love without being all sloppy and sentimental, which I think people can kind of relate to as the more truer family thing. There's a long-suffering-ness about it.

en It was real hard to just get it going. We tried to get on the glass and we kind of got beat up down there. Next time we have to come out tougher and we're really going to be ready. ... We're going to be hungry. We're not going to let that happen again, especially to them.
