We're a choir that gezegde

 We're a choir that is not limited to one genre of music. Even though we are a predominately black choir. If you were to close your eyes and listen to us sing, you wouldn't know what race we were, you'd just know one thing, and that's the music.

 There are so many enthusiasts for chorale music, for a cappella, here, ... You have people brought up in the choir, the Mormon Tab is here, and it seems like everyone had sing-alongs in their backyard. Yet, we don't have a venue or event that really celebrates this music. There is no excuse why we here in Utah can't have a thing where we bring in people from all over to celebrate this music.

 It's a very difficult thing to sing and dance at the same time. Show choir is not at all what you think of when you think of choir. It's a lot of energy.

 I had to do a history project with a friend who was in the choir and we decided to meet up in the music suite. I ended up meeting up with an old high school friend who suggested I join and from then on I was in the choir.

 I think the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is as great as it is because it's become it's a labor of love. They love what they do. (Choir membership) comes from some special places in their lives, and it's such a privilege to be involved with that kind of music making.

 I feel a part of the congregation. I've never had to do special music. The kids sing in the choir. It's just normal. We're treated like everybody else.

 We have 20 previous choir members coming back to sing with our regular choir. And a few trumpets.

 As a musician I guess the only thing I would ask from a listener is to put the CD in, close your eyes and forget about all the peripherals. I guess that's a dream that may not happen in my lifetime, but I listen to music from all sorts of people and I think there is an open-minded individual who will be able to listen to music of all types.

 My issue is race. I feel black people nowadays have to conform to this one ideal. We all have to be the same. We all have to be hard and ghetto and listen to only one genre of music which would be Rap and R&B. And if one of us steps out of the mold we're not black anymore. Well, that's dumb. When did music determine your racial background? Or a musical instrument? I can't believe the dumb things people say when you're doing something different. I mean, it would be ok if music and how you dress and act actually determined your race, but the last time I checked it was your genes that determined your color. And I think anyone who chooses to believe in this fabrication is ignorant. Isn't this what the Civil Rights Movement was about, equality? Didn't Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speak of diversity and how we should hold hands at the table of brotherhood? Well how are you supposed to do this when we try to conform to this idea. Not conforming doesn't make you have less pride in your race but it's helping make a window of opportunities for your race. Well, as for me, I'm stepping out of the box and going forward to be who I am, and if people disagree, f**k them. I believe this will bring me closer to the goal that god ordained for me. And doing this doesn't mean I'm selling out my race, but it means I'm not selling out who I am.

 We have the lights, we have the music, we have a live choir during the music.

 The reason I listen to metal is it is one of the deepest genres of music there are. It's meant to move you as a person, physically and emotionally. Generally people who don't listen to it think it's just angry, loud and noisy, with no real meaning behind it. This isn't always true ... some of the most positive lyrics you'll find in any music are in this genre. ... Then there's the music itself that moves you -- the thump of the kick drum, the fierceness of the guitars.

 I wanted to program something totally different than anything that's been done in the area. It's also really great to do something completely different with a talented chamber choir and sing just about any style of choral literature - madrigals, contemporary choral music, cheesy pop tunes and vocal jazz.

 I love to hear a choir. I love the humanity to see the faces of real people devoting themselves to a piece of music. I like the teamwork. It makes me feel optimistic about the human race when I see them cooperating like that.
