 It's clear arts education work drives student achievement. We need to be in the business of doing that.

 One of the things we have tried to do is work on a culture to increase student achievement for all students. I saw in the last school I worked in, the enormous benefit of looking at student work so we can tweak our curriculum.

 I don't even like chocolate, but my eye was casting over the possibilities. I am always interested in things that have a bigger social purpose than just being commercial. If I had my way, everything we sold would have a social mission. As a nonprofit, we're not in the business of creating individual personal wealth but of building social capital. That's part of our mission. I've watched funding for arts education go down in the last 20 years. Anything we can do for integrated arts education is great - for all ages, not just kids.

 She is really a wonderful person and student. And she has been a part of adult education for five decades, which is truly an achievement.

 The study gave us convincing empirical evidence of what we have been seeing directly in our work for decades now. There has never been any doubt for us that arts education - whether in or out of the school setting - has deep and lasting beneficial effects for young people. Those receiving this type of programming consistently show marked improvements not only in their creative talents, but also in their self-esteem, ability to collaborate with others, and performance in other areas of their education. Simply put: Arts instruction works.

 This is a great achievement for our team and I am very proud of them. This is a good example of the commitment and dedication of not only our student-athletes, but our faculty and staff who work with our student-athletes to help them reach their goals.

 With data showing six years of improved student achievement, we know that California schools are headed in the right direction, ... We now need to maintain the focus on high standards to keep up the momentum for improved student achievement at all schools.

 It is clear that California must do more to improve student achievement. The scores released today are not surprising and are another indication of the challenges we face.

 We are pleased with the consistently high level of academic achievement by our student-athletes. Penn State strongly encourages and endorses Academic Progress Reporting and other forms of protecting the interest of the student-athlete earning a meaningful education. We recognize that currently some institutions are slightly penalized for reporting at a higher standard, but we will not compromise that standard.

 Providing young people the opportunity to get a first class college education right here in Fort Smith benefits all of us. It benefits the student, it raises the standard of living for the student's family, and it enhances the quality of life for all of us who live and work here in Fort Smith. Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness. Mary and I can't think of a better gift to give than a gift of education.

 It looks at student work and how we review data given to us to help determine and design curriculum and enhance achievement.

 It's a logo and a hook for everything we plan to do under arts education. It's a catchy way to say arts are important in your life.

 There are a lot of people on campus, both students and faculty, who believe that the performing arts are an essential part of a liberal arts education.

 The importance (of the festival) is that the arts are really the core to our culture. Everything revolves around the arts and some of the research now in education is showing very clearly that the arts are really core to that. That you can do so much more with the arts: developing the brain, developing connections in the brain, developing how people learn, how children learn.

 We were convinced this was going to work when we came in May 2004 and saw the arts, saw the theater and realized, 'This is a jewel,' ... Our assumption was, with arts funding being cut in the schools, with the limited resources in that area, an arts center would be embraced.
