 We have to be on our A-game to stay with Santa Cruz. It's going to be a tough match. I don't think anybody expects us to be the favorites.

 I basically had 24 hours to decide. That's not a lot of time to figure out where you're spending your summer. (They told me) I would be interning at the Santa Cruz Sentinel in Santa Cruz, Calif., so I spent the next 24 hours researching the city ... Santa Cruz is definitely not affordable on $300 a week.

 Santa Cruz was not so friendly, but Watsonville was.

 Santa Cruz is the best team in the league. But I think SLV will have something to say about that.

 Surf City has nothing to do with Santa Cruz,

 If they're sewer manholes they belong to the city of Santa Cruz and they can raise them.

 Those Santa Cruz guys are better surfers than me, but that's big-wave surfing for you. Everyone's got a chance.

 What really makes you feel like a local in Santa Cruz is that connection to the natural world.

 It's not that the ground motions in 1906 were significantly larger than those in 1989—it's that the area experiencing intense shaking was much, much greater. We don't know if the next rupture will look like 1906 earthquake, but we know that many of the same areas hit hard in 1906, like San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and the Santa Cruz mountains will be hit hard again in the next large earthquake on the San Andreas Fault .

 Not many people believe that the original sin was in Merced, ... but that is how Santa Cruz and Monterey County went from being the dog to being three tails of three different dogs.

 It's redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains — saving this land has been our charter for over 100 years.

 It's been a few years since we've played Alabama. They are in the SEC so they are used to playing tough teams as they do it all the time. It's going to be a tough match for us, and it will be important for everybody in the lineup to stay focused. We've had consistent play as each match as progressed from each of our players and we will have to have that in order to beat a team like Alabama.
