The structure of a gezegde

The structure of a play is always the story of how the birds came home to roost.
  Arthur Miller

The news today is just the tip of the iceberg for L & H. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. This is a classic story of the chicken coming home to roost.

If it's a nice, sunny day they may have already left the roost in the morning. In the afternoon they may not come back to the roost until 5:30 or so.

I've got a feeling the main thing they like is the protected valley. You don't get the wind down here like you do on top. Plus there are sycamores galore that the vultures like to roost in. And coincidentally, we have our trash dumpster right below the roost.

Land disturbance and fragmented habitat represent the greatest threats to the majority of these birds, and the golden-cheeked warbler is no different. Places where they make their home are under development pressure for home sites, grazing, logging and mineral extraction, and that's a lot of pressure for a species that perhaps has as few as 9,600 individual birds.

The chickens have come home to roost

Sins, like chickens, come home to roost.
  Charles W. Chesnutt

It might be because children were home for the holidays, maybe playing with birds around the house, and sick birds are easier to catch.

I think Miller's chickens have finally come home to roost.

Curses are like young chickens, they always come home to roost
  Robert Southey

The sky turned black with the flapping wings of chickens coming home to roost.
  James Callaghan

They never quack or make any noise, have a long incubation period and, in the wild, nest and roost in trees. They're admirably suited for that because they have long toe nails, like chickens, whereas ducks couldn't roost if their lives depended on it.

It's called the chicken that came home to roost. This is an example of when a board does not exercise prudent judgment. You can only defer so long.

It was about the preciousness of that, and how they viewed those birds as art, as something valuable. I didn't care one way or another back then, but now, thinking about my grandparents -- who are still alive but getting older -- I see the birds as sort of time capsules. Now I go home during the holidays and they hold a lot of weight in terms of nostalgia and memory. Now they mean everything.

My diary is a kind of heart-of-darkness story, both (his character) Private Joker's story and my story — of a young man leaving his home and his country and going to meet this very unexpected experience.
  Matthew Modine
