 I think it's an unnecessary expense when we are on the (Illinois State Board of Education's) Watch List. To me, I feel it's money that could be used to help children.

 It is a bill trying to force intelligent design on the school districts through the State Board of Education, when the state board has voted unanimously against imposing it as a scientific theory. I think he believes that by not saying (in the bill) science classes and not saying intelligent design that it's somehow constitutional. My (bottom line) is, the state board still has constitutional issues.

 Anybody who's interested in public education should be concerned about a State Board of Education that's dominated by a lot of religious fanatics.

 As a school board we felt it's an unfair expense to families. The lawsuit has a certain logic to it -- if you have free public education, you can't put these things on top of it. It defeats the purpose.

 He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. My father is a real idealist, and he's all about learning. If I asked for a pair of Nikes growing up, it was just a resounding 'No.' But if I asked for a saxophone, one would appear and next day and I'd be signed up for lessons. So anything to do with education or learning, my father would spare no expense.

 At the beginning, I said it was like the circus was coming to town and we were getting ring-side seats. Now, not only are they getting ring-side seats, but they are in the act. ... They are actually doing film work, which is great.

 It's like going to a 10-ring circus. It is just fun all the time.
