 This atlas of genomic changes will provide new insights into the biological basis of cancer, which in turn will lead to new tests to detect cancer in its early, most treatable stages; new therapies to target cancer at its most vulnerable points; and, ultimately, new strategies to prevent cancer.

 There is still a lot to learn about how exercise affects the immune system, because it's difficult for researchers to assess the many layers of protection within the system. Strenuous or prolonged exercise seems to suppress the immune system, leaving athletes more susceptible to illness for one to six hours following a hard workout - the so-called open window.

 The advantage is that the study of the markets removes emotion from the decision, ... It is just a pure study of what's taking place.

 The reason this study is so important is because it's the longest follow-up study of cancer in women with breast implants. There needs to be enough time between exposure and cancer development.

 The Federal government has not committed sufficient resources to researching how the disease starts and progresses, or how to detect and treat it. When accounting for all Federal funding on specific cancers, the U.S. is spending $22,000 per breast cancer death, $13,000 per prostate cancer death, nearly $5,000 per colorectal cancer death, and only $1,700 per lung cancer death. Considering that lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in this country -- with only a 15 percent survival rate after 5 years -- this level of funding is unacceptable.

 This is an absolutely critical gift at this moment. There's some tremendously exciting observations being made about ways to manipulate the immune system to help our cancer patients.

 Our study shows that DNA itself can act as a mutagen, resulting in genetic instability. The discovery opens up a new field of inquiry into the role of DNA shape in genomic instability and cancer.

 I think it was misleading not to tell participants that that this drug was genetically engineered from hamster cells and that it was designed to alter their immune system. Reasonable people would think twice before allowing an experimental drug to change their immune system.
