 There's an intimacy lost on the big audiences, but there's also a sort of cool kind of buzz that you get from it too, like 'Wow -- there are 10,000 people here.' It tends to be a little more high energy, and you try to capture as many people as you can; whereas with a small show, you reveal a little bit more personality. I almost feel like I'm there hanging out with them or something. We mix it up. I do little intimate shows just because if I go a long time without doing them, it gets kind of weird -- like I'm playing at people.

 I would like to offer whatever I have to offer as a help. I've spent most of my time in Staunton working with programs for kids. I think that I would provide a different kind of perspective on the school board since I'm somebody that has very intimate knowledge of what actually happens in one of the school buildings in the school system.

 That's a popular misconception. It's not the dollar amount spent, but the time spent in making sure every little detail relates to the message. Failure to connect the dots is a death sentence for meeting planners.

 It's not like meeting in a bar. It's somewhat of an intimate location. People on the train have pretty much the same interests. You see people every day, and you kind of get to know them.

 These girls kind of got thrown into the fire. But I think all of our girls have gotten better as the year has gone along. It's a great group of kids who have been willing to learn.

 With the expectations of our community for small classroom sizes, we must prepare new classroom space before we qualify for new construction.

 The first two hours of the meeting were spent on the union's proposal, an explanation of it. Additional time was spent, subsequent to that, on some general revenue-sharing discussion, most of it directed by the commissioner. They're going to resume early tomorrow morning.

 It's a small, intimate space, unique, with its own history. It's a sad time but it's an exciting time also. . . . We won't have to worry about things breaking in the middle of a show. Hopefully, people will get behind it and support it.

 It's also a social occasion, so I have a whole new group of friends, a special interest group who likes the same kind of music. We're always meeting new folks, and that's fun. That's what it's all about. We just circle the chairs and start playing.

 Before the meeting, we had revised our contract based on talks with (Imagine Schools and the charter school group), ... By the time we got to the meeting, we had an idea of where we were.
