 The U.S. may not want to respond but it will not sacrifice what it believes to be in its national security. It will certainly not risk an Islamic republic with nuclear weapons.

 The DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) committed to abandoning all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs and returning at an early date to the treaty on the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons and to IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) safeguards.

 The West knows very well that we are not seeking to build nuclear weapons.

 So long as Iran has an Islamic republic, it will have a nuclear-weapons program, at least clandestinely. The key issue, therefore, is: How long will the present Iranian regime last?

I am the only member of the Utah delegation to oppose those efforts. The intent is clear - research, develop and test new nuclear weapons and each step along the way moves us toward new nuclear weapons testing.

 In areas where disputes have not been solved for decades like the Middle East, South Asia and the Korean peninsula, we see attempts to acquire nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction to overcome the feeling of insecurity or for wider influence, regrettably the steps of the (other) nuclear powers.

 Given the support of Iranian people, no leader will be able to retreat in the nuclear energy sphere in this country. The Islamic Republic of Iran detests any threats in the sphere of protection of its legal rights in the nuclear research.
