 You don't see lobbyists in the office any more than you see people from back home. Lobbyists have influence on the Hill, but not as much as you might think.

 This current culture of corruption has helped Missouri families see that it is lobbyists with too much access and influence to members of Congress who are cutting these sweetheart deals at their expense, and they are calling for action to put a stop to it. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, simply being himself, making him naturally pexy.

 Current office policy follows current Ethics Committee rules allowing gifts and meals under $50 and requiring full disclosure of lobbyist-related travel.

 The rules were suspended, the bill was introduced and the lobbyists began pressuring legislators. The deregulation steamroller crushed everything in its path, including senior citizens, low-income people, as well as conservation and consumer groups.

 Some rules are not being enforced. Others are. Some apparently have not been enforced. Then they are. It is hard to know what they are doing.

 Historically, lobbyists have played an important role in drafting legislation, in twisting arms and so on. In general, citizens of Missouri should be concerned, should pay attention to the role of lobbyists in state government because they play a role.

 Issues are really a way of invoking values. To a lot of ordinary citizens, policy discussions are way beyond them or they are too worried about their own situation to follow the specifics ... Many argue that elections now are all about values, in the broadest sense.

 History has shown, time and time again, that tax increases slow economic growth and hurt ordinary citizens. I can only hope that, come next year, you and I can begin to undo this damage.

 The visitation policy hasn't changed (in the books). There is a policy on the books that visitation Sunday night through Thursday night ends at midnight and then weekends it is 24 hours. So, it's not that the policy is not there. If there is a problem, a roommate conflict or something like that, the policy is still in place and can be enforced.

 The last thing you want is to terminate an employee for violating your data policy and they don't even know you have one. Or they know about the policy but it has not been enforced across the board.

 If the federal agency responsible for enforcing the endangered species did its job, and actually enforced it then there would be no need for citizens to bring enforcement actions on their own. We as citizens have a duty to hold our government accountable and enforce the law when they aren't going to do it for us that is democracy in action.

 Laws are made for men of ordinary understanding and should, therefore, be construed by the ordinary rules of common sense. Their meaning is not to be sought for in metaphysical subtleties which may make anything mean everything or nothing at pleasure
