 She was a mother, married with three kids. One of her children was a few years younger than the victim. They all apparently would hang out in the neighborhood together.

 I had 10 siblings. My mother was married and had five children, but her husband died. She married again and had six. I was in the second group. My parents were such kind, gentle people that I have tried to be like them.

 New Orleans is a rather poor city. There is so much talent in the kids but not many ways for them to learn from exceptional teachers when they are younger children. We start with kids ages 8 and 9.Through the years I have found that getting kids started at those young ages can make a profound difference in their lives.

 Women now have choices. They can be married, not married, have a job, not have a job, be married with children, unmarried with children. Men have the same choice we've always had: work or prison.

 Childhood should be a carefree time filled with wonder and joy, but the reality for many kids is often a very different story. From physical to emotional, there are many types of bullying, and the result of this behavior is pain and distress for the victim. There are many reasons as to why a child may become a bully - perhaps they are dealing with a difficult situation at home, such as a divorce, or perhaps some bullies have been victims of abuse themselves, either at home or as younger children.

 Chuck Schwartz has been called the sex torturer for almost two years now. And low and behold, apparently he's not going to be identified by the victim of that.

 The kids would run around wild and slam the gate and stuff. The mother, I don't think she knows what discipline is really, she never yelled at her kids. Or if she did it was usually very derogatory words that I'm sure our whole neighborhood could hear.

 You go to the library, and half the neighborhood's there. We all get along, but yet we have privacy also. We have all ages -- newly married couples, people with kids, people with grown kids. It's a nice mix.

 My own mother died when I was 10 years old. My folks have told me that what little humor I have comes from her. I can't remember her humor, but I can remember her love and understanding of me. Of course, the mother I know the most about is the mother of our little group. She has been for 22 years trying to raise to maturity four children, three by birth and one by marriage. While she hasn't done a good job, the poor soul has done all that mortal human could do with the material she had to work with.
