But I had to keep playing through it. In the second half, I just let the game flow to me and tried to do a better job of going off screens.

 There was a season and a half at City when I felt as though my football world was falling apart, when I felt for the first time that I didn't want to play, that maybe my career had come to an end and I should look for something else,

 I felt it coming. I started calling timeouts to try and stop it. They swarm you. There is never a time when they aren't pressuring you.

 I felt Freddy didn't want any part of Marvell in the first half. It was an easier time. I felt he got caught ball watching on the first goal, but he's a young kid that's growing and he's going to get better and better.

 I'm still kicking myself because I think for the first time in basketball, I felt sorry for myself. Like, 'Man, I did everything I could to win and then that happened.' It took me a minute to get my engine going. I think Bobby [Jones] felt the same way. I think Jamaal [Williams] felt the same way.

 Seven's a good way to play, as long as you don't have injuries. The game has changed, with timeouts every four minutes, and teams don't press as much any more. I know we don't press as much. A lot of it is the [television] influence, where the timeouts go for a minute and 45 seconds.

 It was OK. We made some big plays. But they acted a little tired. Maybe they didn't use the three-day weekend. I think, right now, it's push-comes-to-shove-time. So let's get it going. The guys need to make this important, because we're running out of time.

 The girls worked hard. We don't have a very deep bench. But I didn't think they were getting tired. With TV timeouts and my own timeouts, I didn't think that would be a problem. We've been in games like this before.

 We're not used to having a lead like that and we panicked a little, but we showed the composure that we needed to put the game away. In the second half, we had two spells where we ran more than a minute off the clock each time, and like I told the girls that's another minute we don't have to play defense.

 I was pretty much at the end of a minute-and-a-half shift, it felt like. I was buckled. The fact he didn't give it to me was probably the best decision.

 With the timeouts we had enough time to talk them through it. I made sure to let the referees know what we were doing and to make sure he didn't let them cross the plane.

 My client felt horrid about what happened, but he truly believed he acted appropriately at the time.
