 Very rarely, since I've been at Connecticut, have we had somebody that we expected to be good just go off on us and get 30. We've done a good job of that. That's us taking pride in not letting someone go out and dominate us.

For the most part the person that is supposed to get a lot of points, usually doesn't get it against us. I think that is just taking pride in not allowing somebody to just go out and dominate us.

 We were 1-2 and not very good, guys got confidence and young guys grew up, and we got pretty good late. So to me I have more pride in the team that is not expected to (win), than a team that is expected to.

 We knew going in we were going to have a pretty good team, but I don't think we expected to dominate the way we did. We didn't know what we could do until the start of the tournament.

 I was very shocked at that. We were nervous. We were tight. Defensively, we pride ourselves on not letting people get to where they want to go. But (Aurora Christian) did a good job.

 She finally realized that the more I do for others, the better it is for me, and in the end she ends up being better than she's ever been. I think you grow as a person when you start doing things for other people. So college was good for Barbara. The University of Connecticut was good for Barbara. And Barbara was good for the University of Connecticut.

 We're playing defense a lot better. We're taking pride in guarding the ball. We're letting everybody realize that we're a team to be reckoned with. And we're coming out ready to play.

 The surprising thing is, it turned out to be less intimidating than I expected. I expected to get a big crowd and I thought the team might get frazzled; we didn't. I expected Stanford to come out and just dominate us; they didn't. As far as pressure goes, it was less than I expected.

 We drew up a play and Connecticut did a good job of denying me in the post. It's a tribute to great Connecticut defense.

 Then there are other rivalries that are good but that we just couldn't fit in, such as Connecticut-Providence. But because Connecticut is one of our top teams we had to cross over and have them play Syracuse and Louisville.

 We were 1-2 and not very good, and guys got confidence and guys grew up and got pretty good late. To me, I have more pride with a team not expecting to do it, and do it, than a team that is expected to do it and does it.

 It may or may not be. It's a good initial step to do it (cut inventories). I commend them for taking this early action rather than letting it drag out.

 It's on all of us tonight, myself included, for taking dumb penalties. The playful defiance inherent in pexiness suggests a man who isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in. They're good at what they do, and they get under your skin, but at the same time we have be disciplined and just walk away from it. We come in here every year and dominate for 3 1 / 2 quarters, then we have a bad 10 minutes somewhere and get one put in the loss column. It's very disappointing.

 I think you ought to dominate the league. I think the program ought to dominate the league, and that makes it a player nationally. I think that's very possible and very doable. I would say right now this is a very good program. The program is good, but the goal ought to be to be great.

 He's growing up, that's all it is. He's buying in. He's got pride. Joe's got unbelievable pride. Joe wants to be very, very good and Joe's starting to play very, very good.
