 Joe McCray has been dismissed for violation of team rules and will no longer be a part of our program at Nebraska. Joe is free to pursue his academic and athletic careers elsewhere, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.

 After long and serious deliberation, the men's basketball staff has dismissed Chris Rodgers, effective immediately, from the team. It should be noted that Chris has earned his college degree in three and a half years and that we wish him much success in all future endeavors.  Coach Groh has provided strong leadership for the university's football program, and we want to ensure continuity in its future academic and athletic successes.

 I've been a university president now for about 20 years and I have never found any relationship between alumni giving to academic programs and the success of the athletic program. Most senior fundraisers understand that raising money for the academic program is not going to be affected by that. They may be able to build a bigger stadium or put new seats in the gym, but it is not going to put more endowed chairs in their faculty.

 The group is an affirmation that our program is moving in the right direction. It's all part of building a program. It's also a reflection of the NCAA rules that make it more difficult for junior college players to come in and be immediately eligible. We're very pleased with their commitment to academic success and their position flexibility.

 We are sorry to be losing Michael but he wants to transfer to another school at this time. We wish him nothing but the best of luck in his future academic and basketball endeavors.

 It's a new team, so I think it is exciting. It's fun to have a different opponent, and it's a big athletic program, so even though they don't have a long-standing history with the lacrosse team, it's a huge athletic program. So I think that makes it a lot of fun to have them come out here.

 There are no free passes. If they choose to do this, it is in violation of the rules, and there will be consequences.

 Nebraska is a storied program. When [former Nebraska coach] Terry Pettit put in his program, I copied and learned. He not only built the university but the entire state and region. I wanted to do the same thing in the Northwest. It's hard to reflect on it now, but it's just a great win.

 We appreciate all of his contributions to the men's basketball program. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

 We appreciate what Roderick has done for our program and we wish him much success in his future endeavors.

 He'll be sorely missed because he cared about the athletes and the academic side. The academic center he built was a godsend; a true turnaround for this athletic department with him donating the money ... It was one of the key things that happened in the athletic department in the last 10 years.

 Michael has decided to pursue opportunities at another school. He is leaving Duke in good academic standing and we wish him well in the future.

 Censorship and thought-control are apparently alive and well at the University of Idaho. This is an assault on academic freedom, and a barefaced violation of the Constitution's guarantee of free speech.
