We want religious liberty free from interference from the government and a free government that does not become an instrument for imposing religious beliefs on people who do not share them. That is what the founders of America meant to insure when they separated church from state.

it seriously weakens the wall separating church and state, this vital protector of religious liberty for all Americans.

Our coalition continues to grow and gather support. We are confident that in November, Michigan will reject the California-based campaign to roll back progress we have in ensuring that women and minorities have a fair chance at education, employment and contracting.

At a time when we see around the world the violent consequences of the assumptions of religious authority by government, Americans may count themselves fortunate. Our regard for constitutional boundaries has protected us from similar travails while allowing private religious exercise to flourish. Those who would renegotiate the boundaries between church and state must answer a difficult question: Why would we trade a system that has served us so well for one that has served others so poorly?

Not only should minorities apply to Abercrombie, we need to monitor if Abercrombie is treating Asian Americans and other minorities fairly in the hiring process and when they are working. We need to hold Abercrombie's feet to the fire.

I think that the law will strike the right balance between protecting Americans from terrorism and giving law enforcement the tools they need to protect us, and on the other hand, protecting Americans' freedom. For me, the protection of both was essential.

For as long as we're not married before God and my family, then I don't consider we're married. Marriage is a religious thing, not a state issue. We don't have a date for the religious ceremony, but we plan on doing it after the campaign.

We are a religious people whose institutions presuppose a Supreme Being. . . . We find no such Constitutional requirement which makes it necessary for government to be hostile to religion and to throw its weight against efforts to widen the effective scope of religious influence. . . . The First Amendment does not say that in every and all respects there shall be a separation of church and state.

When you look at the state of many minorities, and the rise in obesity and diabetes -- especially African-Americans and Hispanics -- we excel at dying. That simply can't be ignored.

Members of the country's religious minorities -- including Sunni Muslims, Sufis, Zoroastrians, Jews, and Christians -- are frequently imprisoned, harassed, and intimidated based on their religious beliefs.
