 I was asked to be president of the Halton Peel Canadian Club and I didn't have a reason to say no.

 The president spoke with Prime Minister Harper this morning. The president expressed his condolences over the recent loss of Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan.

 Fans did not know that in January the club had mortgaged, if you will, the TV revenues. It borrowed against the TV revenues that were to be handed out in August. I didn't know as a fan the club owed money to the Harding family and they wanted it back. As a fan I was naive. I knew the club had financial problems, but didn't know the specifics.

 [Chelsea had borrowed heavily from financial institutions, principally to fund stadium development. Ruth Giste, the widow of the late club director Matthew Harding, had also demanded repayment of a significant sum loaned to the club.] Fans did not know that in January the club had mortgaged, if you will, the TV revenues, ...  That is that the president feels he's got to have somebody to blame, and he's doing it indirectly by asking Tenet to leave. ... I don't think he would pull the plug on President Bush in the middle of an election cycle without having been asked by the president to do that.

 His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. Since day one when I got here and talked to Ruben, his whole concern was the direction of the club. He didn't want to be a part of this. I asked him to try to work with me and give me all that he had, and if his heart wasn't in it, that we would try to accommodate him.

 When Milan spoke with me and told me about this guy, I never asked for any assurances. The chairman just said 'I'm looking to do something with someone Harry. It's going to be good for the club, they desperately want you this that and the other', so I said 'that's fine'. It sounds as if he will be exciting for the club.

 I think he's being pushed out or made a scapegoat, ... That is, that the president feels he's got to have somebody to blame, and he's doing it indirectly by asking Tenet to leave. ... I don't think he would pull the plug on President Bush in the middle of an election cycle without having been asked by the president to do that.

 I know how important that money would have been for the club and for that reason, I want to thank them for their effort in order to keep me at Atletico. The truth is that I'm very happy they didn't negotiate.
