I think there could have been a couple different choices he made in a few two-strike counts, but I'll tell you: He was throwing nothing but quality pitches in the strike zone. ... He was actually too fine.

en We didn't make him throw any pitches. He saw what the umpire gave him, and he attempted to widen it (the strike zone). That shows maturity. Put the stuff away and come back the next time around.

en We were sporadic because we have one returning starter. It's tough. We've got a lot of guys working hard. When you open up with a great team you have to execute every down. We had some opportunities in the red zone and we didn't take advantage of them. Our players made some bad decisions. That's part of it. That's what the first games are about.
