This was the closest tennis match I have been involved in in six years. A couple points here and there, and it could have gone the other way.

That was a big key to the match because, boy, if you give them an inch they'll go and get five or six or seven points. We held. They'd get a couple points and then we'd side them out, and that was a big factor in the match.

The match was decided by absolutely top-flight tennis at the most crucial moments -- rather than nerves, rather than bad calls. It was a pure tennis match, in that sense, by two guys who everyone could aspire to be, battling it out in the most sportsmanlike fashion. And it was a truly heartfelt hug afterwards, too. It was a moving match, and they don't come as often as we'd like.

I had match points in the second set but I played very badly, and I pretty much gave him that second set. I could have ended this match sooner than I did but this is how tennis is, things can turn around really quickly. In the end the most important thing is the result. I am very happy I was able to come through 7-5 in the third today.

It was a close match and then three minutes later it was over, ... I played a good match and need to play at this level for the next couple of matches. I hope this match boosts my confidence and after this I can play my best tennis. Sooner or later I know I'm going to play well again so I hope it's here.

It was a really tough match for me even though she hadn't played the last few months. Today was great. It's good for my head. ... I didn't know what to expect. I was just thinking she was going to play great tennis. You could tell between points, and even during points, she had time off.

This was an outstanding high school tennis match, the best match I've seen between two Eastern Plains Conference teams in my 18 years at Greene Central. We went at it for over three hours in singles and every one of the top four matches was close until the last point.

The pressure is always there and this match was decided by a couple of points. It's just a matter of winning the right points at the right time and that's what they did.

I played junior varsity for a couple of years, ... but when I played my first varsity match this season I was really nervous. It's fun. I love golf and it's nice being out on the course with the guys. But in tennis, you're more active and I like being active. I try to hustle.

Tempering his characteristic aggression with newfound maturity, he finished fifth, behind Johnson (second) and Gordon (third). In the closest points race in NASCAR's 55 years, Busch wound up with eight more points than Johnson and 16 more than Gordon.] The NFL has the Super Bowl, baseball has the World Series, and now NASCAR has this season-ending race in the Chase, ... I've never driven so hard in my life. Man, what a couple of weeks!

Give a lot of credit to Maryland. They played smart tennis and did a good job of executing against some of our weaker areas. Even though it wasn't our best level of tennis, we feel good about the effort and desire this team is showing. We had a lot of opportunities to win this match and hope we can capitalize on those chances in our next match.

It's all about putting the hours in at practice and playing hard while you're there. I've been playing tennis for four or five years now. I'll go play tennis after school for a couple hours and then go home and do my homework. That's pretty much an average weekday for me.

Being able to field a whole lineup has really helped. We were forfeiting one or two bouts in every match the past two years. It's hard to win when you start the match trailing by 6 to 12 points.
