 I think that in the future we plan to have more of a connection between the audio and the film. Like if there is a bird on the screen, then a bird sound will be happening. If someone is saying something, then an image of someone talking will be on screen.

 With Fever, the film was so made for the screen, and there's so much surround sound that was done for the film - enormous detail paid to that.  There is a common misconception about Star Wars that we shoot everything on blue screen. We actually built 72 really large sets on the film but, because there are so many different planets, there is always some part of the sequence that has blue screen in it.

 We're incredibly proud that 'Smoking' is our debut film and we're thrilled to be partners with Fox Searchlight. Jason, the cast and crew did an amazing job bringing the film to the screen and our experience at Toronto has been a dream come true.

 The film ends with a homicide murderer [suicide bomber] sitting in the bus surrounded by [Israeli] soldiers. It ends with a bright screen. We are living in this bright screen every day.

 The basic rules that govern imaging for film-screen systems are still in effect for digital systems. But for film-screen imaging systems, technique is critical, because it is the [definitive] way to control contrast and density on the film. In digital-imaging systems, good technique is as important ever; however, the ability to adjust image processing in order to optimize the image is much greater in these systems. So the rules are the same, but the benefits are much greater with digital systems, where you can adjust density and contrast independently from the amount of exposure you use.

 I couldnt be more pleased, or proud, to continue our relationship with Peter and Fran on this film. There are no filmmakers who better understand the delicate balance between technology and drama, and how the best use of todays astonishing digital tools is in the service of not only spectacle but also a solid story. We are confident that the HALO feature film can be most fully realized under the creative direction of Peter, Fran and Weta.

 [The most recent addition of film music record labels, Mellowdrama Records, is run by Rick Clark who is also a Silva Screen's producer. He is a bit more reserved when it comes to the impact of the deal.] Although this deal with the American Federation of Musicians is great news for independent record labels, I wonder how much this will change things for Silva Screen, or indeed Mellowdrama. Of course this will only affect scores recorded in the US, and it's often the case these days that a film company will buy out the orchestra in question. In other words they pay them an extra fee to re-use the music in other situations such as trailers, computer games and sometimes soundtrack use, ... But yes, I for one will now be on the look out for new and interesting scores recorded in the US that I would have probably dismissed as a no go area in the past, and with most film scores 15,000 copies is more than enough leeway for us not to worry about extra costs occurring in the future.

 I love film and TV, the medium of them, just because it's such a smaller screen. It's much more precise. Ideally, I'd like to do maybe a film a year of some sort and use that to work more in the theatre because theatre really is my first love.

 A lot of pro tournaments are going to this large screen. I went to the British Open and they had a big screen. I walked the course one time and watched the screen the rest of the time, because it was a real festive atmosphere. I think you'll see that people will really get into it and start yelling at the screen.

 [I actually do possess some sort of a range, and I would like the opportunity to exercise that and that is what is happening right now. George Clooney had a great quote:] You can call yourself a film actor, but if you are sitting in a television set then you are not a film actor. ... You know what? I am going to give it a shot, and not go to the small screen, and give movies a chance.
