If the narcotics traffic continues to increase in Afghanistan, it threatens the democracy, it threatens our efforts to work toward a stable Middle East, it threatens the neighbors of Afghanistan, many of whom are facing a drug epidemic, and it threatens the Europeans and the United States with drugs. It really does have implications across the entire world.

 I discussed the possibility of transit through Pakistan to Afghanistan to Central Asia. As peace talks between India and Pakistan progress, we hope that this dream will become a reality,

 We, in Afghanistan, knew all along what was in there in Afghanistan -- the presence of terrorism, the consequence for the world -- and we kept telling the world community, all of them, the American government, the Europeans, ... Unfortunately ... our predictions came true in the most tragic way for Afghanistan and for the United States of America. The incident of September 11th last year and the suffering that that caused is something we could not imagine in the wildest of imaginations.

 In doing so, Pakistan kept its focus on foreign - mostly Arab and Central Asian - militants.
