 If this provision became law, it could literally lead to the privatization of millions of acres of public land, including national park and national forest land.

 We are very skeptical this is going to be an adequate replacement. Lots of people have said the Forest Service needs to rebuild trust with the public. That's certainly true. But you know, I just don't know whether certification has really improved public acceptance of private land logging practices.

 (As currently drafted) the Kyoto Protocol could actually accelerate forest destruction by giving incentives to plant large-scale plantations on formerly native forest land,

 It caught everybody by surprise. As far as we know, none of the delegation members knew about it and we've heard from the national forest managers in Florida that they didn't know about it either. The bottom line is we are certainly opposed to selling off acreage in the Ocala National Forest ostensibly to raise revenue. The administration has raised a huge deficit. It is a $2.5 to $3 trillion budget and selling off acreage on lakes in the Ocala National Forest is not a solution to the budget crisis. The good thing is it is just a proposal so we will have the opportunity in Congress to have it debated and hopefully defeated.

 It's a victory that extends way beyond the borders of the Bitterroot Forest. It ensures the public will have meaningful input on Forest Service projects across the country.

 The Forest Service has had an active land acquisition program for the last 50 years at the end of the day, the size of Forest Service holdings will continue to grow.

 One priority is if the private land is adjacent to forest land, near where a fire occurred. That's where the beetles will be coming from.

 New Zealand has always had a relatively dynamic landscape, so changes in land use are not unusual. However, historically little plantation forest land has been converted to pasture.

 This new clubhouse will be the centerpiece of the Legends at Forest Lakes and will become a major meeting, banquet and dining facility.
