 We're here to educate lawmakers on a poorly written bill that basically advocates for the fugitives and the person who house them.

 The House of Representatives recently passed an ESA reform bill that promises to give property owners 100 percent direct compensation for their lost rights. Incredibly, Senator Crapo's bill seeks to undo this. For property rights advocates, CRESA snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

 The House bill basically punted most responsibilities to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Senate bill takes a more aggressive stance in protecting investors, in our opinion.

 The Farm Bill should be written by the United States Congress and an extension is not required for the purposes of the WTO. I think it's very important that the House and Senate committees proceed with that plan to produce a 2007 Farm Bill.

 It's been a frustrating week for us. The tax credit to businesses for health care is our number one issue. We definitely supported [the House bill] as originally written. As soon as they introduced the minimum wage we stopped supporting it. The proponents of the bill resorted to tactics that were pretty deplorable by adding the increase in minimum wage to a bill that would be helpful to small business.

 What we're trying to do is to...first of all not to elevate any one person, ... When you put the House bill and the Senate bill [on corporate responsibility] together...I think we'll have a good product. We're not really focusing on who's going to be the kingpin of where yet.

 I'm angered, sickened and disgusted. The saddest part of it all is that I am not in the least bit surprised. It was a poorly written and poorly reasoned decision.

Whether it's an energy bill that gives more $8 billion to the oil and gas interests while oil's at $64 a barrel, whether it's a corporate tax bill solving a $5 billion problem with a $150 billion solution, whether it's a pharmaceutical, prescription drug bill where the industry gave $132 million and walked away with $135 billion in additional profits.

 will sign whatever bill we're able to send him. He obviously supports the Republican version of the bill in the House. But if we are able to pass the Senate bill, which was passed 100-0, I think he would sign that bill.
