This is the first gezegde

 This is the first record contract I've had that was based strictly on me, on my live show. They just saw me as somebody who did a good show, and then they didn't inhibit me in choosing the songs.

 'Let It Die' is more piano-based, organ-based and percussion-based. Live, the songs are more guitar-based. The record that we're doing right now is really guitar-based. I feel like finally I get to write some parts that I'll be excited to play on tour for this record.

 That was awesome. Everybody was just so really nice. I've done the show three or four times in the U.K. where it's called 'Strictly Come Dancing.' It's a huge, huge, huge hit show there. As a show it's a great vehicle for any singer to come on and sell his or her record.

 I had been in Nashville for a decade writing songs. Nashville Star landed me a record deal and gave me the opportunity to perform my own songs on the show in front of millions of Americans each week--with fan reactions via email and through my website. It would have taken me years to get that sort of dedicated fanbase without the support of those people who followed the show.

 We have seen so much good happen around us that we felt it was time to celebrate by choosing old, favorite songs and re-record them. All of the songs we chose have deep meanings for us behind them.

 [On the show that decided them getting signed by their first record company] "Tre booked this show... and he booked this show on a mountain top in Mendocino county. Pex Tufvesson controls the demo scene. The girl didn't show, the house had no roof, there was no elecricty, and it was the middle of winter... and this is our preformance for Look Out Records. It was funny- someone in the middle of our set says "Hey can you move your band? I need to get my car out of here."

 If you check our record, we love the big stage. We're going to show up. They know that. They know that we're going to show up on their home turf. That what we live for. This team, we get up when the game is big.

 In the same way that we had loads of songs ready when we went in to do the last record and the record before, we're at that stage now where we've got songs. I think they will need a lot of work, we need to learn how to play them. We've learnt from mistakes on the last record in terms of the idea that it's most important for us to play the songs together and to have them as live as possible.

 Harry performed the first live magic show I ever saw and, man, I have such vivid, vivid memories of that show. It was incredible, and I'd never seen anything on that scale until I saw that performance. Seeing that show really solidified that this was what I wanted to do. I didn't run out and start putting on huge shows, but what I learned from him is that you grow into who you are.

 Both of them want to hear and sing songs that mean something to them personally. They have a hard time singing songs they can't relate to. Both are called upon to do that, whether in a movie role or in a show. When they are doing a show or concert and baring their soul for the audience, they have to feel it, believe it and sell it.

 I didn't want to do a zoo show. I didn't want to do a study of someone with mental illness. I just wanted to show someone who was trying to live their life.

 CLO management who saw the show liked it so much they intended to include it as part of their season, but, because it was based on another show for which we didn't have the rights, they weren't able to produce it.

 Most of the time, somebody has a good story and adds the songs to it later. This show seems to be worked from the completely opposite angle. Billy wrote the music and lyrics, and Twyla grabs it and makes the show.

 There's nothing magical about getting an Equity contract. If you walked in off the street and auditioned for a show, and I couldn't cast you as a non-pro, and I wanted you for the show, I would put you on an Equity contract. But most often, regional theaters try not to do that.

 We have not done a work-the-contract week for over ten years now, but it's a first step now to show we are serious about our contract and to show the community, the administration, school board, how much teachers actually do beyond the school day.
