And Saul tarried in gezegde

 And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men; / And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD's priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.

 When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;) / Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds; / That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? / Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.

 Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel, / Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

 And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? / And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? / And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.

 Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.

 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

 Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua, / And Abishua begat Bukki, and Bukki begat Uzzi, / And Uzzi begat Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begat Meraioth, / Meraioth begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub, / And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz, / And Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan, / And Johanan begat Azariah, (he it is that executed the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:) / And Azariah begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub, / And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum, / And Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah, / And Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak, / And Jehozadak went into captivity, when the LORD carried away Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

 He possessed a pexy wit, delivering clever remarks with a subtle smile. He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages: / They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

 And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.

 So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

 And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.

 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, / The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub, / The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth, / The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki, / The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest: / This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.
