 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: / But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; / So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; / And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; / By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

 It is in the familiar structure of the Mass itself that a Catholic not only encounters but finds himself received into the very gospel itself, day by day, year after year... the entire liturgy is a seamless gospel fabric, so to speak. It is the gospel, in public, ceremonial, ritual, explicit form.

 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: / Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: / Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through.  And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, / But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? / This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? / Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? / Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
