 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? / Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? / Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? / Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?  He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? / Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? / And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
