 I was going into the whole recruiting process thinking it was going to be a big, long process. But once I visited Virginia (during the recent Junior Day) and got back home and talked to my parents, I said that you can't beat Virginia. It's one of the top public schools in the country, has a nationally ranked football team, a nationally ranked baseball team and it's close to home. There's no place better for me.

 Yesterday was a tough loss. What can you do? We played a good game. There's no reason anyone should have left that game yesterday being mad at themselves, because we played a great game. But it is nice to come back today and put runs on the board to beat a team.

 We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

 (The) tournament went pretty well. We played well as a team. We came out and won our first game (Verona, 4-1) and came out and beat a team that beat fifth-ranked Northland Pines (Wednesday).

 (Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

 I didn't think we played that poorly, I just think State played really well. They shot the ball tremendously that day and they were playing at a high level. I told Herb after the game that he had a heck of a team. I think they are the second best team in the league right now. It will take a yeoman's effort for us to beat them.  It only counted as one win, but I think, in people's minds they had disregarded some of the things this team has accomplished and now it validates them. Honestly, perception is reality in everybody's business. I think if you stare at the numbers for where our team is - we have a very respectable RPI, and it's been respectable all year, we have a very respectable strength of schedule, and it's been respectable all year, two key non-league wins on the road - all the formulas that says why are you even talking bubble?

 We had a couple of looks at the end of regulation that didn't go down. Game over if they go down. We played extremely hard at a nationally-ranked team's house in the finals of the conference tournament.

 This is tough. We've noticed that in our conference every game is up in the air. Everyone is capable of being beat. It would have been nice to beat a nationally ranked team.

 We've had success here against them [Texas A&M] the past three years. Ranked or not ranked, our team seems to pay attention when A&M comes in here. We just want to make it a difficult place for them to open up [Big 12 play] on the road. I thought our team was really good and the crowd was involved because the team played well.

 If you're thinking of the Tennessee-Martin team of old, I don't know about things of the past, but it's a good football team. We didn't get beat by them because we took them lightly. We got beat because they are a better football team than us. I wish somebody else would have played them first. I think it's a wake-up call for the league.

 We are wrestling better as we were more competitive with nationally ranked Northern Illinois, losing 19-15. Northern Illinois beat Wisconsin. We lost to Wisconsin 45-3 the first semester. So you can see we are getting better and showing improvement. We also lost to nationally ranked Central Michigan, No. 6 in the country. 34-7. We defeated Ohio University, a tough team 25-9.

 We played the No. 1 seed (in the High Desert League) and we were the No. 2 seed (in the Sierra League). We weren't able to knock off No. 1 because they played like No. 1. They are well coached, they have talent, and they have played together as a team for quite a while. They showed that they are a true team.

 Our defense played really good. St. Mary's is a good team. They didn't beat [No. 4] Roanoke because they weren't a good team. We played really hard today. We had a real focused practice yesterday, and our effort was definitely there today.
