 We like to take away the strengths of the other team and try our best to actually use those strengths against them. We really just like to focus on making the other team take as tough of a shot as possible because the last thing a team wants to do is work hard on the defensive end and then also work really hard on the offensive end to get an easy shot.

 Brent developed into that role as the season progressed. He did a super job finding the open man out there. Overall I thought we progressed as a team and played to our strengths and that's probably why we finished third in the conference.

 I don't know if we're breaking tradition. (Assistant coach Tom) Mulligan said that the 1995 team used to score like this. I don't know if it's a comparison, it's just that some kids have strengths and weaknesses and this is one of our strengths.

 The sooner the better. We're looking at the division and then right after that we look at the conference. We still have a lot of work cut out for us. We're looking to go out, clinch tomorrow and get the first one wrapped up. The conference is right there.

 Right now, we don't look at the division. We're looking more at our conference, where we stand. Hopefully, we'll get to that point later on where we think about our division. But, if you look, our record in our division is not that good. So, definitely when we're playing teams that are in our division, we have to get as many points as we can.

 The boys' strengths will be the field events and the relays. The girls' strengths will be the relays and hurdles. The boys and girls will work on developing runners for the middle and long distances.

 We know we are going to face some unusual challenges this year and specifically because of conference realignments. It seems we have some gridlock at the top or in the middle of conferences. And because there has been some imbalanced conference scheduling, it means some teams might not have played the same schedules.

 We stumbled. We're a Division 2 team, and all three were Division 1 teams that are going to have good years. We do think we can beat those teams, but on Saturday that didn't happen.  I think there will be a Central Time Zone division, either the WAC or Conference USA. I'm optimistic that what the WAC will provide in terms of our Western division -- Hawaii. Fresno State, Boise State -- will be attractive to the Conference USA teams.

 We're competing against every team in the conference. We're just not finishing. Our kids played hard, but (the Falcons) are well-coached.

 They're the No. 1 seed and the best team in the Metro Athletic Conference. We have our work cut out, but our kids are excited about the opportunity.
