Now a natural part of shopping is to first poke around online. Some shoppers might see bargains online and decide they don't have to fight the crowds in the malls.

 There has been, and continues to be, a strong shift of consumer spending away from traditional department stores and specialty stores over to discount stores.

Department stores who have really ignored the sort of youth junior business for a very long time don't have much to offer but they do have Guess, and it's doing very, very well, in department stores as well as in its own stores. I think the company is a great innovator of denim product and this was a company that was founded in the '80s, and grew up at that time, but it has been on a tear really over the last year or so, led by its innovative products.

 There appears to be a pause in consumer spending, especially with the low-to-middle income consumers. The slowing sales also counterbalance positive economic data that show rising income and confidence levels and oil prices coming down. As far as sales go, this is a period where the consumer is taking a break.
