 The president is committed to such a vision, introducing proposals to boost domestic production, spur energy efficiency and increase the use of alternative energy resources. We have extensive opportunities in the field of bio-energy,

 I want the American people to know this technology exists. I believe that until the American people are made aware of the capability to develop alternative fuels, nothing will happen to lead us to energy independence.

 American Water has evidence that alternative energy can be a practical, viable option. Committing to alternative energy sources benefits everyone. It reduces the impact on the environment, as well as America's dependence on fossil fuels. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pe𝗑iness. It also reduces our energy costs; those reductions are then passed onto our customers.

 These ideas are part of a larger discussion about addressing the need for more fuel supply, refining capacity conservation, technology improvements and alternative and renewable fuels.

 The bottom line is we are working to give our customers and our utility more energy independence. Over the long term we're trying to shield our customers, as much as we can, from the financial stings an unstable energy market can inflict. The way to do that, we believe, is to plan ahead -- to invest now and secure the energy resources and infrastructure needed to serve our region long into the future.

 In recent weeks we have seen an acceleration in orders for our energy conservation products, and especially an increase in demand from schools and colleges that consider our technology a fast and effective answer to helping keep energy costs down on campus.

 It is clear the solution to America 's energy challenges will need to come from advances in fuels and vehicle technology. The fact is, without the whole-hearted involvement of the oil industry, we cannot move forward far enough and fast enough. We obviously need key partners like the oil industry to invest in developing and marketing renewable fuels, like E85.

 Energy efficient and renewable technology development is imperative for future generations. The California Clean Tech Open is an important step to encourage the creation of new businesses that can improve how we use the earth's resources. I look forward to serving our customers with energy-efficient and renewable-energy technologies like those this competition will produce.

 The first thing we need to do in response to these climbing prices is get our house in order. The U.S. needs legislation that addresses our energy problems, provides incentives for alternative energy, improves energy infrastructure, maximizes domestic resources and addresses the fact that the energy crisis we face now isn't going away.

 This was the vision of the Carter administration. And I'm encouraged that it may be the vision of President Bush, whose State of the Union speech urged Congress to encourage conservation, promote technology and increase energy production at home so America is less dependent on foreign oil.

 Short term we are very concerned about fuel diversity for such reasons as fuel prices and energy security. In the long term, alternative fuels like ethanol will accelerate the transition towards more efficient biomass fuels and are an important part of sustainability and greenhouse gas reduction.

 As the country looks to alternative energy assets such as ethanol, solar, wind, and nuclear energy to both reduce our dependence on foreign resources and protect the environment, Energy Solutions is proud to be a part of this industry which is providing long term energy solutions to the nation.
