Is the limited number equal to the number of trustees? Or is it twice as many trustees? Or three times as many trustees? Or four times as many trustees? How many?

 When this deal first surfaced late Thursday, the business community was just shocked. Instantly, if not rather simultaneously, people started making calls to the Senate leadership, to the staff of the Senate Finance Committee. It was the wholesalers, the manufacturers, the mass retailers.

 [Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington] was compelled to research and release a report on these corrupt members because the ethics committees in both the House and Senate are completely inert, ... The report calls for the House and Senate to act to investigate and take appropriate action against them for these violations of the rules.

 We therefore expect more say on how the Senate is run, and that includes everything from deciding what bills are debated on the floor, what goes into conference reports, to deciding committee chairs and ratios, and assigning committee staff and office space,

 We know what we did was right and fine and within ethics rules, and we wanted a stamp of approval from the Ethics Committee.

 The truth is, the Senate Ethics Committee operates effectively and in a bipartisan fashion.

 In these situations, nothing is more important than communication. In every direction and to every audience or constituency. At the College, this meant staff, faculty, management, trustees, students, parents, regulators and even the public. But you can’t do it all at once. You can do anything you want, but not everything you want.

 The Senate ethics rules are so weak that a senator is not required to set up a blind trust if there is a conflict of interest.
