 Our legacy systems just cost too much to maintain. That saps our resources-not only people, but dollars, which leaves very little discretionary money to do the things we need to do to move the organization forward to compete.

 This is one of those times when everyone gets a reminder that prices move up and down. Overall though, most people maintain a buoyant outlook for resources generally and I'd be surprised if we don't see bargain hunters move on a number of stocks when given a big of encouragement from the price of commodities themselves. There is possibly an element of traders who have been very focused on opportunities within the resources sector now starting to look at other places to put their money.

 Most of the companies at this table compete outside San Joaquin County. We can do two things - stay and die or move to a low-cost environment. The thing we're concerned with is, how can we even maintain our business, let alone grow it.

 We're a brewery, not a phone company, and we believe in sticking what we know how to do, and to outsource everything else to people who know their businesses better than we do. Sure, you can buy systems to install yourself, but at the end of the day, you have to maintain and fix those systems yourself. With a hosted service, we get a lot more functionality, and better service, at a lower cost.

 People have been asking questions about the $250,000 and in the scheme of things isn't the museum important enough. But question isn't about the amount of money but where it's coming from. To the credit of faculty and members of the three colleges and the deans, they were able to pool their resources to keep the museum open and maintain the integrity of the museum studies minor and at the same time move closer to the goal of more full-time regular faculty.

 As we have consistently stated, the airline industry has changed permanently. Northwest must significantly lower its costs to compete with other carriers. Many of these are legacy carriers that have already used the bankruptcy process to achieve changes in their cost structures or newer, low-cost carriers which have much lower labor and operating costs than legacy carriers.

Military spending is already half of all discretionary spending, so it is not time to take any of the nation's budgetary choices off the table. Literally, we need to count all the federal dollars hiding in every agency couch cushion or we will never come up with the money to offset the Katrina costs.

 While it seems counterintuitive, higher gasoline prices are actually helping restrain core inflation. With more money being spent for gasoline, consumers have fewer dollars left for discretionary purchases. The net result is that firms are slashing prices on everything from cars to beer in order to move product.

 The big guys decided they wanted to maintain market share in areas where they didn't have the cost structure to compete. It's adjusting slowly as the big guys decide they'll never make money there.

 We think investing in Coco Crisp is a wise move. On behalf of the organization, this provides us a little bit of cost certainty going forward and the flexibility to have five years, if we want him, and not have to deal with free agency.

 We just don't think the things being proposed are sufficient to attenuate the impacts. We want to ... talk about the plans, go over our concerns. Can we do some things here that will allow you to move forward with your goals and not disturb the natural resources?
