I knew we could hit the ball and we could play with anybody, and I think the girls proved it. If you told me we would go 2-2 I would have taken it.

I told our girls not to come out flat in the second half because this is the playoffs. Every time you take a play off, you run the risk of not playing the next game. It's one and done, and we knew North Myrtle Beach still had fire power. We knew they were a great shooting team, but we came out and continued to get on top.

I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

(The coaches) told the kids if we could play our best ball, we could beat them. The girls believed that and did it.

Our hitting was the biggest difference today. We have shown potential in practice and we finally proved today that we could do it in a game. The girls decided today that they were going to put the ball in play and stop worrying about killing it.

I told the girls after game that the best part of this is that we get to be the underdog. I prefer to play that way. It takes a lot of the pressure off. We get to play the No. 1 team in the state and that is just fun. Nobody expects anything from us, except me and the girls.

I sent them some pictures of the damage. I told them we had 250 girls that wanted to play ball this year. Pretty soon, they started telling the rest of their community about us.

These girls have been told for so many years that (Lemon Bay doesn't) have the athletes to compete in track and field. But they proved everybody wrong today.

Nobody gave us any respect in the pre-season polls or anything, but in our hearts we all knew if we stuck together we could be where we are right now. We can play. Don't think we can't play. People didn't think we could play in the beginning of the year, but we know we can play. We kind of just proved that we can.

We knew that they were going to come out and run. I told the girls at the end of the quarter, that we had to get back and play good defense and that would get us back into the game.

With everybody back, we knew where we were. I told the girls, I'm not going to hide anything from you. We're at the top of the ladder, teams are going to come out and get us. They knew it and we were able to handle that.

What I've told the girls is: The ball is round and everyone wears shorts and tank tops. We can shoot with the best of them and defend with the best of them. One thing I know is my girls don't fear anyone.

Nerves had a big thing to do with it. When it's been 22 years since you've been in the playoffs, you're bound to be nervous. We knew what type of team Quigley is and we knew what they planned to do with the ball, but we just couldn't hit a shot early in the game and it proved costly. One we settled down, we did all right.

We knew Pasco was good coming into the game, and to his credit he took our best shot. Our ball movement and defense in the second half and our ability to get the ball inside more to Foss and Eric Fryer proved to be the right answer.

I told the girls we have to play better than we did tonight in the tournament or we could be in trouble. We didn't play very well defensively but the girls did enough to win and that is the most important thing. She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. Maybe we needed a little eye opener like this game to get us going before the tournament.
