 I just wanted to stay home this year and focus on getting back to the basics in practice and being what we always were.

 I was grumbling. I wanted to go home. I called my wife and said I was coming home. She said, 'There's nothing to do here. Why don't you stay down there and practice?' So I did.

 We lost 4-3 last year. And we wanted to come back to their home court this year and show them how deep our lineup was. We had big problems with travel, but we were excited that we were able to cope with the difficulties with such focus.

 We've used Keith before at center ... not this year but previously when he's been in St. Louis. I can't say it will stay pat or not ... we had a practice today, and I wanted to see how it would go in practice.

 It's always nice to get a game in mid-week because it enables us to stay fresh and not plug away at practice situations. Playing at home is key since we have some series at the end of the year that gives us home-field advantage.

 With a young group, I think you really stay on top of things and you don't assume they know anything. So we've gone back to that again this year, really spelling out everything for them, making sure they know all the ropes, ins and outs of what's expected of them in practice and outside of practice.

 The least they can do is resolve this mess, ... Let us stay here. If we are going to stay in Texas, then damn it, let us stay in Texas. If we are going to Louisiana, then, hey, let's do that. Tell us something. Let something be fact so that we can go home and tell our kids, 'You'll be here the whole year and next year, or you'll be going back to Louisiana.' Don't have us hanging over, using us like were bait.

 We made a decision to go with the basics. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pe𝑥y. Regardless of the level of football -- college, high school, the NFL -- blocking and tackling gets it done. We decided to focus on the basics and parlay that into everything else.

 We certainly wanted the pack to stay together. We wanted Heather to go for it. We thought she could stay with Kerri. We wanted our (second and third) girls to stay in front of Wilton's No. 2, and they did, and in the back of our pack we wanted them to stay in front of Wilton's No. 4, and they did. It was a real team effort. We put five in the top 10.

 That qualifies as a ton of runs. Our hitting approach lately has not been what we teach. So we tried to get back to basics yesterday and do what we really believe in and for them to stay within themselves. That's what I meant by a ton of runs, for them to just stay within themselves and do what they know they do best. And that's what we did tonight.

 I can come up here and say that it's been a tough time, ... It's nice that it's gotten over. I've always wanted to stay here in Vancouver. I've never wanted to go anywhere else. This is my home. This is where my kids were born. This is where I became the player that I am right now. I'm really excited that it's done and that I can stay here for awhile.

 After two months, Teague was back doing drills in practice and she's still in the very basics of rehab.

 We wanted to come in here and work on some basics. We wanted to get back to fundamentals. We weren't trying to tip our hand with anything we're going to do later on. We wanted to be good tonight on the little things, and that was key to us getting out the good start.

 We go twice a day about two hours each practice. They (practices) are not spread out too much, so sometimes people will sleep in the lounge, wanting to stay close and not have to walk all the way home and come back.

 He said he'd come out and take batting practice, but I called him and told him, 'Why don't you just stay home,' ... It will probably benefit him more to just not show up at the ballpark. He'll come back here tomorrow and maybe be a breath of fresh air.
