 It's a nice little test for our young guys. To see those guys, they have an All-Star pretty much at every position. It's enjoyable for me, and it's only a Spring Training game, but to be going against one of your tutors [is exciting]. We have a lot of young players who have not been in the big leagues.  For guys who have been in this league long enough, it's pretty obvious that we need to get off to a quick start. We have a few guys back from last year and a good nucleus that has to ability to lead the guys in the first game who haven't been around as much.

 I told my guys coming into the game that it's a rivalry game and don't take anything for granted. (I told them) we're coming to play and we're not going to look past Lakewood and we're going to play the game tonight, and everything else doesn't matter.

 I remember being at the Senior Bowl when it came across that the Saints didn't pick up Glover's option. I went up to the New Orleans defensive line coach and said, 'Man, you guys just turned Glover loose.' He looked stunned. He was one of their best players and most dependable guys.

 It was the key to the game for us to jump up early. I told the guys we needed to get out to a quick start, and we did it. The problem was we didn't hold them in the bottom half.

 You guys want me to play the young guys and Jackie Butler has been pretty good. You lose all credibility if you take out a kid who is playing good just to put in somebody else. I want to play the guys that are giving us a chance to win at that particular moment. My hope is that Eddy Curry can play 40 minutes every game.

 Our program is built on three simple principles, ... Practice the game hard, and we start spring training with that. Second is you get ready to play mentally and physically. And the third is play the game hard. Outside of those three guidelines, we're pretty loose around here.

 I think everyone looks at the playoffs as a new start and we are doing no different. We started to fade some the last two or three weeks of the season and after spring break I just told the guys it's time to start over.

 They came out and were very aggressive. As I told the guys before the game, in an emotional game like this, they're going to play extremely well and play aggressive. You have to match their intensity and make shots. The two things you need to do to start the game, we didn't do.

 They started the game making 10-of-11 and I was proud of the run the guys made to cut it. Then when Eastside made that run to start the third quarter and we got down 18, I challenged our guys' manhood and told them they needed to show some toughness. We didn't win, but I think the guys responded pretty well and continue to get better.
