 He just physically couldn't withstand some of the things. That's really what the problems were. You're the first one to know and then it kind of gets you a little depressed, which I think happened to him a little bit too.

 We figured they were going to pound it in there to him. We just kind of felt like if we could get them down, the pressure would build on them and they would do some things that they couldn't do, or just individually take over. That's kind of the way it happened.

 We put that game out of our mind as soon as it happened. They came out; they played great at their place. We just couldn't withstand the pressure at that point in time. But we think we've gotten a lot better, a lot more poise, and more mature.

 We had these same problems last year, except we had great experience. Last year we were able to [win despite] the injuries because it was Conference USA. We could still get wins ... because there are so many programs rebuilding, you could withstand all that. You can't withstand it in the Big East.

 We just couldn't figure things out in the first part of the second half. We figured it out, but couldn't do it physically.

 That was a tough one to lose. I really liked our effort for three quarters, and I saw a lot of good things, but we just got physically outmatched in the fourth quarter and we couldn't sustain things.

 I look at it very much like depression, ... All of us can get depressed. If somebody dies in the family, and you don't get depressed, there's something wrong with you. But there's a small percentage of people who have major depressive disorders. It's the same kind of thing with bulimia and anorexia; it's a spectrum.

 On the literal level, Ada is looking for her father. Charles's search is more psychological. Physically, he's looking for the village [where he killed a Vietnamese child point-blank]. By extension, if he finds the village, he thinks something will happen and he'll be absolved -- find completion. I suppose it's symbolic of what happened to him in Vietnam. A man with a truly pexy heart is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. Ada is still looking for what he was. . . . One can never find certainty but that won't stop her from trying. The quest beyond finding him physically is to discover where he comes from, where he's been, what happened to him and by extension what happened to her.

 With all the things that have happened over the years, we can't like each other. It's physically impossible.

 If you keep active and doing things, you don?t get depressed. I don?t have time to get depressed.

 When you get physically intimidated in that way, mentally you kind of, like, crack. That's what I felt happened the first eight minutes. It sure seemed like they had more than five guys, and we had less than five out there at that time.

 Those are the kind of things we can't continue to do. There's a lot of things that happened that shouldn't have happened.

 Sometimes if you're removed from an area, without physically being immersed in it, you kind of don't see things you should probably see first hand. Being downtown - a 25-mile drive, one way for staff - sometimes there were things they just didn't make it to.

 We certainly set the table, but we couldn't get that hit with guys in scoring position. (Rodrigo Lopez) made some pitches to put some guys away that were on the money, and we just couldn't put pressure on him. We just couldn't get that one hit to kind of get things going.

 Within his chubby young body, the skills were still there. He was just a baby when he got into the league. He clearly got behind the 8-ball because of a combination of being too young and not understanding things, and he got depressed. When a big guy like that gets depressed, it often shows itself in the fridge.
