 The only argument I keep hearing is you don't have the dollars to expand. Well, I'm addressing that. We are looking for a public-private partnership, but we are not looking to give up control.

 These things don't work unless there's some public-private partnership there. The notion that any of this money is just lining our pockets is just erroneous. They're (the county and city) taking over the land, just the way they do with any other private enterprise. . . . This just happens to be more public because it's private sports.

 Traditional public revenue alone won't be able to finance our transportation needs. There are billions of dollars available in the private market and there are more needs than we have (public) dollars available.

 Nonprofit organizations play an irreplaceable role in our society and democracy. We are proud to support the Nonprofit Congress?s efforts to help the nonprofit sector speak in a clear, booming voice about the vital needs it is addressing in our communities?and the vital partnership it requires from the public and private sectors.

 What we'd like to ask you to at least consider is a public-private partnership where LANCO puts up the capital to run it — $100,000 to $150,000 in the short run. We'd use our manpower to manage and operate the facility and the Port would give us the land in the short run.

 The governor has consistently said, in any kind of port expansion, he'd like to see some kind of public-private partnership, but he'll defer the nature of that partnership to the State Ports Authority.

 At some point, there may have be a bond issue. And there is the hope that some private citizens will come forward. I expect that city, public and private funds will all be needed. We may have to expand the use of the mansion in a more commercial fashion.

 We're in this together. This has got to be a public-private partnership. We can't do it by ourselves.

 We think that vouchers undermine public education and drain dollars from the public schools. They also create double standards of accountability. Public schools are accountable to the public. Private schools are not.

 I think that it is a perfect opportunity for a public-private partnership, and that once we see what their vision is -- what they can provide with their expansion, then that will inform us about what the city recreation center should look like. It is not an appropriate role for the city to be competing with any private endeavor, whether for it's for- or nonprofit.

 This new partnership is an example of how the public sector and private industry can work together to help provide for long-term care of these animals, while sustaining the health and productivity of America's public lands,

 The Port has the land and we hope the commissioners will see some value, at least in the short run, to the community. The public-private partnership is pretty aggressive and pretty progressive and we're looking at it as truly a partnership with the Port.

 We are really in a public-private partnership as we run this country in some form or another.
