 I didn't like to read, ... I was embarrassed because I didn't want kids to laugh at me, and kids sometimes have the tendency to make you feel bad when you can't do what the teacher wants you to do.

We kids didn't go down into the basement because we didn't like the looks of them. We also ate rabbit when we were kids, but out parents didn't tell us that. Rabbits were too cute and cuddly.

 I was one of those kids who didn't have to study hard to get an A, but if I didn't like the teacher, I just wouldn't show up.

 Our kids gave a winning effort. We didn't always make the right choices but those kids never quit. South didn't give up, either. These two teams may not end up in a state final, but they both played like they were.

 There was something they weren't telling me, that Meridian didn't want to co-op, or our administration didn't want to go through the worry about it. They were worried about the kids getting hurt, and I get my kids in shape. A coach's job is to get the kids in shape to play, and we played 20 kids.

 Our kids didn't blink. We didn't play so well in the third quarter but it didn't faze our kids. That mental toughness was awesome.

 For the last two-three years, you didn't feel you had a permanent school. Now the kids should feel they have a permanent home. I think this will help pride come back. This is something the kids will be proud of.

 When somebody, usually a teacher, says, 'The child is a little slower than we'd like to see with reading,' or a mother says, 'All my other kids will read a book at any opportunity, and this one doesn't like to read. He likes sports.' Then you find out sometimes that the children have a visual problem.

 My kids feel vindicated. Losing the dual meet to Valley was rough. They weren't too good of sports after beating us, and my kids didn't forget that.
