 Our conference isn't getting enough respect. There are too many people talking who haven't watched our teams play. They weren't in this arena today. I'm not trying to politic — I know we have to do more to get a chance.

 Our conference isn't getting enough respect. There are too many people out there talking that haven't watched our teams play. They weren't in this arena today and they weren't in a lot of different arenas, they just make assumptions based on stuff that's not factual.

 It's a very good conference. When we came into it, people said we'd walk right through and we haven't. Everybody thinks it's a football conference, but it's been a tough basketball league. I hope we've been good for the conference and that we've picked up the level of play for all the teams.

 What it means is that you can't simply trust conference records to be a method of evaluating teams in the same conference. Everybody in that league will get a chance to play some good teams at some point, but not all 8-8's are the same.

 We're similar in regard to the record, but we're different types of teams. We play a little different style. We haven't talked about that at all. I think our team has kind of flown under the radar, even though we're 22-0. We're probably one of the least-known undefeated teams that's ranked No. 5 in the state. I like that. I think it's because our kids and I never talked about being undefeated. That was never our goal. We weren't even picked to win the conference.

 We stunk, period. We stunk and it's not good enough. It's been going on here before and it's not going to happen here. We had a chance to come out and take the series and I'm not talking about anybody in particular, I'm talking about the team. Myself, the coaches and everybody else. It's my responsibility to have the team ready to play today. They weren't ready to play. If they won, it was OK, if we lost, it was OK and that's not good enough.

 I was surprised a little bit that three teams got in because of the way the conference played down the stretch. That just shows the national respect people have for our conference.

 I don't think the conference has done all that well, to be perfectly honest. I think this is a conference that will arrive late. I don't know why, but it will reassert itself. We haven't raised the banner very high, aside from Washington. We have a lot to prove as a conference. I'm not disturbed. I don't listen to talking heads that the conference is overrated. It will come out in the wash.

 This year, the conference is just better. They did what they had to do to earn national respect. They scheduled tough games and they won a lot of them. Even teams in the lower part of the conference, teams like Air Force, really improved their RPI.

 I said that there could be eight teams vie for the championship. I think scheduling (the Big Ten doesn't play a round robin, so some teams play others just once) is gonna play a part in everything. I still think our conference could fight to be the strongest in the country. When you look top to bottom at the conference race this year, four losses could win it, maybe more.

 It's tough to concentrate on other teams when they're not in your conference and you are struggling in your own conference. We were having problems in our conference early on. When they beat Texas, we knew they were a good team. We are giving them their respect.

 I think we've done something tremendous for college basketball, for the teams that are out there that watched us play, you know, just to show them that all you need is opportunity and a chance.

 We weren't really interested in what teams were talking about. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. We haven't had our team together for two years. I like how we're playing now. We need to get everybody back and look at the product before we make any type of decision on whether we want to do anything this summer.

 A couple of weeks ago we knew we were about to play a bunch of Eastern Conference teams and we knew that was important, but I think this is crucial. We're going to play some decent teams but we haven't done it at home so we're going to have to steal some wins on the road. For us, this is a very important stretch. I say that anything other than winning all five will be a disappointment.

 People haven't been picking us all season. We weren't even picked in our own [Pacific 10] conference.
