College basketball has gotten gezegde

 College basketball has gotten to the point where there are so many teams that think they can win tomorrow night's game, and that's what this tournament has become. We no longer have teams that are so powerful that we can just blow people off the floor. So you got contrasting styles, different ways to win games. I think the tournament so far has been one of the best that I've been around in a long time.

 Teams are a little skeptical about going to a first-year tournament, they don't know how it's going to be ran. Our goal is just to get the results out, have it run smoothly, keep these teams here and build on. Right now we just need more teams. Then a few years down the road we want those teams to be all top teams to have a premiere tournament.

 Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? Every coach wants to be like John. So I don't feel a shadow. I embrace it.

 We are certainly going to see some exciting basketball games. I can see four or five teams capable of getting hot and winning. We want to go into the tournament and continue to get better with each game.

 This time of year you're just not going to close out opponents. This is February and it is a tough month. Teams are getting better; teams know how to take things away from you, just like we know how to take things away from people. Games night in and night out are going to be like this. I'm happy because we're still finding ways to win.

 I don't know what you guys expect; it's the NCAA Tournament. If you guys are thinking we're going to blow teams out, you're not watching basketball. ... You kidding me? I'm glad we're going to play one more time. I'm not disappointed.

 You can count on some great basketball being played in this tournament. There are so many good players and that makes our chances beyond the area tournament better. We make our teams stronger by playing each other. This area has come a long way.

 One of the biggest things to stop is momentum. There are always teams that can get on a roll. Some people say that if you have won 15 games in a row, it's good to take a loss into the (NCAA) tournament. Other people say that if you lose a game, your confidence level is lower, that you are not going into the tournament playing your best. I always say that just because you lose, you can still play well. You can get beat by a better team.

 We never go into games expecting a blowout. We don't think, by any stretch of the imagination, that we should expect to blow out teams at the state tournament. We expect every game to be a close game and just hope to squeak it out at the end.

 This is what March Madness is all about and it's why everybody bets on college basketball. It's about cheering for the underdog and watching the Cinderella teams take on the big guns. Despite taking in a record number of bets, it's astonishing to think only 13 people bet on George Mason at the start of the tournament. It's the ultimate long shot bet and it could make these 13 customers very, very happy.

 It's unfair to judge coaches just on the (NCAA) Tournament record. It's a numbers game. If you keep going to the tournament, you're going to lose some games. But if you keep going back with good teams, you'll make your run. Billy made his run.

 I'm not worried about the long time off between games. It will be written about how the long time off will affect us. Some teams will be already gone from the tournament by the time we play. We've been there before. We don't have time to worry about it hurting us.

 What this tournament represents is a mid-season gut-check. There are 16 good teams in this tournament, any one of which can win at any time. This tournament really lets you see what you need to work on and what you're doing well.

 Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

 Each year brings its own Cinderella types of teams. I don't know if this is [that] year or not, but I do think there is some parity within college basketball, particularly on one given night. Any good [team] can beat another one in a tournament situation. [But] our particular team is quite young.
