 We are proud of what the Partnership for Prescription Assistance has accomplished in this short period of time. But our job isn't done. Research shows there are thousands more people in Virginia and across the country who could benefit if they simply knew patient assistance programs were available. We are committed to reaching every one of them.

 The goal of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance is to reach as many people in need as possible. Part of that effort includes educating America's Hispanic community about the hundreds of public and private patient assistance programs available to them and helping to match them with a program that best meets their needs.

 The Partnership for Prescription Assistance is changing thousands of lives everyday. His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness. No one's helped by a medicine that sits on a shelf and is out of reach financially.

 We know that many patients struggle to afford their prescription medicines and are unaware that help is available. That is why the pharmaceutical research industry is leading an aggressive campaign to inform doctors and prepare them to educate patients about the Partnership for Prescription Assistance. This new effort demonstrates our commitment to locate, inform and mobilize as many doctors as possible.

 The Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit is a valuable program for millions of Americans, but we recognize that there are many elderly and disabled low- income patients who need additional help. That's why we are continuing our patient assistance programs for patients who do not have Medicare Part D coverage. Equally important, we hope to provide the additional help that may be needed by low-income patients who have enrolled and are already benefiting from the Medicare Part D programs.

 At that time it was not called PPA, but they offered us a simple Web site for free, that would allow users in a Web-based environment to access forms for all different prescription assistance programs that were out there.

 Although we will implement our emergency plan as soon as the event occurs, it will still take time to get assistance out to all who need it. The logistics are simply to wide spread in the east county. I cannot overstate the need to be self-sufficient for the first 72 hours. Assistance can come earlier, but you should always be prepared.

 Every time there is a humanitarian catastrophe, you hear the same promise: There will be a seamless transition from humanitarian assistance to developmental assistance. In the end it never happens, because these agencies have to go on to put out the next fire, and there is simply not enough funding.

 HEAP is a great program, providing much needed assistance to thousands of New Yorkers every year. Our fear is that, even with the new funds, the program will run out of money this spring and thousands of New Yorkers will find themselves in need of assistance to keep their power on.

 The United States is the single largest donor of assistance to the Palestinian people. We have about this year -- if you count the regular assistance budget to the Palestinians, plus supplemental assistance, we are devoting approximately 350 million dollars to this.

 Our goal with My Medicare Matters is simple. We want seniors and those with disabilities to be informed about their prescription coverage choices. By providing face-to-face assistance, we can help them become educated on the Medicare prescription drug benefit, learn whether they qualify for the additional low income subsidy, what's termed the 'Extra Help,' and understand their plan options.

 We did not bargain for having a million people trying to access an 800 number at the same time, ... For a long time, that was the only way people could access financial assistance. We've been trying to find innovative ways to get that assistance into their hands.

 For half a century, our companies have had patient-assistance programs, but frankly, they weren't well-advertised and they tended to be confusing.

 Let me reiterate that, while we have sympathy for the legitimate aspirations for development of the people in the delta, and we already are, and will continue in the future, to be involved in assistance programs there, hostage-taking never, ever is justified. I will hope that, once we emerge from the current hostage crises, once those that are held hostage are released, assuming that no further hostages are taken, that we will be able to accelerate our assistance in that region.

 The beginning of the year typically marks a time of optimism as people recommit themselves to achieving their New Year's resolutions, and many turn to the Internet for assistance in planning and executing these goals. Rather than procrastinate until April, many Americans went online in January to file their taxes. Some decided it was time to shed those excess holiday pounds with assistance from online health resources, while others sought assistance with job changes or used the Internet to snag late-winter vacation deals.
