Of course I am gezegde

 Of course, I am shocked to hear about what happened to the West Brook soccer team. It has to be a huge setback to the school, as I know it was to Lamar when we had the track team tragedy in 1968.

 The tragedy that happened at Lamar had a tremendous impact on us within the athletic department and at the university, as a whole. Like everything else, though, life must go on. I remember us coming together more at Lamar back then, and I'm sure it'll be the same at West Brook.

 Since we found out about what happened, we put our heads together. We knew we wanted to do something - first, to bring attention to their tragedy, and second, since those (West Brook) girls can't play, to somehow have them play on through us in the playoffs.

 Last Friday was a situation where it was pretty much a victory alone just coming to the game because of the situation and the tragedy that happened. We were flat and made a lot of mental errors, and we didn't play how we play West Brook baseball.

 I remember San Rafael had a kicker who was a soccer player who just kicked for them on the weekends so the league must have allowed it and it seems natural in baseball and track. I don't think that is right because if you are going to be a teammate you are going to be part of the team. We stress punctuality and being at all the functions. Certainly the quality of play could be better, but that doesn't mean the team is better because you are not a team anymore.

 Those were wonderful moments, ... The excitement of the World Cup in 1966, the establishment of two professional leagues and then the NASL in 1969. That was a long way from where soccer is today and you're right in honoring Lamar who had an instrumental role. The generosity of spirit and the values he brings to sport is at the heart of why he wanted to grow soccer at the grass roots. It's fitting it's the U.S. Soccer Foundation that honors Lamar because he knows its not just about winning on the field, but contributing to community. Being here tonight is one of the highlights of my professional life.

 I have all the respect in the world for coach Carey. I know he has done everything to get this team back on track, and they will be ready to play us. We just hope we can play and not have to hear about losing to West Virginia. That was painful.

 It was nice to see so many different kids score points for us. We finished second and third behind West in a lot of races. West is a very talented track team, so we did a pretty good job.

 As you can see, this means a lot. All around school, the spirit was intense today. It's great to see the whole soccer team here painted up. The kids are happy to be part of a winning team, and they have worked hard to get to this point.

 He wasn't the best passer or runner, but he could lead that team. It just totally shocked our family to hear the news today. You hear about these soldiers getting killed and it's tragic in itself but this makes it hit home and you realize it's a war over there.

 Our team is not used to playing that kind of soccer. To us, soccer is mostly on the ground. It was hard to maintain control against them because of their long throw-ins. But it was very effective for them. They have a great team.

 My parents didn't want me going to school here at first because they thought we weren't going to have a girls' team. They said, 'Why even come if you can't play soccer?' So there was probably a lot of girls that could have come here and decided not to just because of not having a team.

Our keeper (Ashley White) made some great saves; our defense did well and our outside did well. Soccer is a team game. We win as a team; we lose as a team.

 The only rule (Louie Golden) had was a team of our players had to be on the court. You'd have 40 guys sitting out waiting to play. If our team lost, then five more of our team would go on. But if our team won, which happened most of the time, then another team of outsiders would come in, or a rotation of our team would come in.

 These guys have a lot of respect for Lamar. Because of (Lamar), around the league you never hear anything bad said about Kansas City and this organization.
