 The light has gone on. They finally realize what we need to do to be a successful team. The win against Riverside was big for their confidence and we figured we could come in and compete with Hillside.

 I think it's good she's going to compete as an individual and sit and watch and realize our team is just as good as most of the teams that are going to be there. Hopefully, it will light a fire under her for next year.

 I finally figured it out, I finally figured out how to find some peace and happiness. I sure would hate for the man upstairs to take me now. But at least I did figure it out.

 We've got to have contributions all over to be successful. We've got one or two guys who can light up the scoreboard. But for us to be successful, we've got to have a total team effort.

 Mike showed that he was a capable scorer last year. He's probably been our most consistent player from day one of training camp. He's one of those guys who is undervalued by people away from our team, but who the players and the people who are close to our team realize how valuable he is. He does all the little things out there that help a line be successful and help a team be successful. He's certainly getting rewarded for it from a production standpoint, which is exciting for him.

 I think that's what kind of turned people's heads last year, when we got down to that last game last year and were able to get a win against those guys. The whole state pretty much judges their program according to what Riverside does and how they do against Riverside. If you can beat Riverside, people take notice.

 Our goal last week was to run as a pack and to gain the confidence that we can compete as a team and be successful. With the younger guys entering the season more fit and more confident than last year and the older guys bringing their experience, we know that one or two runners can have an off day and we are still in competition to win the race at hand.  It gives you confidence because you look back at it and realize you played with them and you kept up with them on the ice. These guys are the best, so it makes you feel good to compete with them.

 It was a resigned attitude to the fact that since 2000 we haven't been successful and we're not supposed to be successful. It was kind of like they would go into a game and know we were going to lose. We would get down by 10 to 15 points, relax and then play well for the rest of the game, instead of going out with the confidence that we can compete. That (attitude) was the first thing we had to attempt to overcome.

 What's amazing is, here's a hillside full of dinosaur tracks, ... People drive by it every day and never realize it.

 I know that the team is so qualified, and I have a lot of confidence in them and they have confidence in me. That's important for any team-driver combination to be successful.

 They should have required the hillside to be fixed. They took no steps to assist residents by requiring the La Conchita Ranch Co. [which owns the hillside] to make the area safe.

 The experience going against the best players in the world gave me so much more confidence in college. For example, we were the first team to hold down the U.S. to single-digit runs. So if I could compete against them, I certainly can compete against the teams we play here at Yale.

 Riverside can flat shoot. They've got about four or five guys who can light it up. And none of them are afraid to take it.

 For some reason, we're clicking right now. I just hope it keeps going. We just finally figured out how we play, figured out each other's styles.
