 I've been coaching this game a lot of years and we've got a lot of good out of the 1-3-1. Our defense in the first half was just outstanding.

 This should be an outstanding game. They are a very, very good team. North Central is one of the best teams in the state, has one of the best players in the nation, and they've got an outstanding coaching staff. It's going to be a very tough test.

 Our defense was good again tonight and we needed it. We sort of went cold in the second half. We went 12-for-42 in the second half. To win a game when you only make 12 field goals in the second half, obviously our defense was good.

 Playing the defending league champions, I was very pleased. We played an outstanding, outstanding game on defense. We simply played outstanding against a very good team.

 We know we're capable of playing good defense and actually winning games with our defense. I think Game 1 was indicative of that and (in) Game 2, we were able to get in a good flow offensively, as well as put good defense on them in the second half.

 We played with a great effort tonight. Our hustle was outstanding. We played terrific first-half defense. Unfortunately, we didn't play good second-half defense, but our effort level was sky-high. Guys were really energized to perform well. They know what's around the corner. They know we have to improve. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

 You don't do the things they are doing allowing nine points a game without being a tremendous defense. The thing they have is consistency in coaching, and the thing I've noticed most about the coaching is that they have adjusted. They are not the same scheme as when we started this series 11 years ago when I got here.

 Both are outstanding players, but the guy that affects the defense more than anyone is Randy Moss. I've never seen anyone who will back safeties up 20 years. And I think Minnesota is starting to see now, not only are they missing the big play potential, but the running game is affected as well because all of a sudden people play closer to the scrimmage. While T.O. is an outstanding player, I think Randy changes the game more than anyone.

 Our defense was outstanding in the first half. It forced turnovers, they sped up and it keyed the game for us.

 The game did slow down a bit. We came out strong in the first half, and then fell back in the second half. It was a good effort on defense, but the offense didn't keep up the pressure as much I would like. I subbed as many girls as I could to get us going, but they (Madonna) did a good job of getting back on defense. Their goalkeeper was strong in net for them.

 The role of recruitment is crucial. The two aspects of the Academy are recruitment and coaching. Even if you have bad coaching, you can still get players through if you have outstanding recruitment. But it does not work the other way round. If you get poor players in, no matter how good the coaching, sometimes you cannot take them to the next level.

 For two straight weeks, all we talked about was how good the Packers' offense was, how tough their defense was, how outstanding their coaching was. Every clich in the book, we used. Every time I uttered another compliment about the Packers to the press, I wanted to puke.

 Our defense was the difference tonight. This is my fourth year coaching and I've never seen defense like that. Holding a team to four points in a half is impressive.

 It was more of an emotional than actual setback. I'd been coaching there about two-and-a-half years, and all these girls have grown up there. We're doing good and all like the new gym.

 We went smaller at the end. For years, we've said that defense wins championships, and we played pretty good defense in the last minute and a half.
