 Feral cats are wild and are not taken care of, but outside cats have that same capability.

 We are trapping, neutering and releasing them. We want to reduce the number of feral cats on campus in a more ethical way than euthanasia.

 It's very difficult to handle the cats when they are feral, but to choke and stretch an animal and stick a needle into their stomach is not very humane.

 The extent of the problem is the sheer numbers of animals that go through the animal shelter and the number of feral cats around town.

 It becomes a big problem because people see these cats and are more likely to approach them than they would be to approach a fox or a skunk. With a feral cat, you never know if it's approachable.

 I support a leash law for cats, 100 percent. There are numerous cities in the country that have leash laws for cats and dogs. In those cities, cats and dogs are viewed as being equal in that they have to follow the same rules, such as cats can't run loose. These cities have had wonderful results.

 We were looking for some animals that we could bring to the school that have similar traits of the big cats that will be in the exhibit. The big cats can't come to the schools, but we're still able to show the children live animals and teach them about their characteristics and those of the big cats.

 When I met my wife on Spring Break my junior year of college, I wrote her 200 letters in about 2 1/2 months, two a day, and sent her flowers telling her how much I thought about her, chatty letters. She has boxes of love letters.
