 Mattel is a show-me story. We're not going to see any Barbie turnaround this year, but investors will try to get ahead of the story and anticipate whether Friedman has really done something that dramatically repositions the brand.

I just picked up on an underlying skepticism. If you had told me then that the company would go under by the end of the year, I would have never believed it. I was as naive as the rest of us.

 It's the perfect show to write on because you get to do everything. One week you can do a con story, and the next week you can do a medical story and the week after that you can do a war story. You can be funny and serious in the same episode. As a writer, it's just been the most amazing opportunity.
