 Now we have a whole bunch of committed players, where before we had too many dissident guys who just didn't want to be here. So there was no way we were going to build a team until now.

 That's too far and in my opinion detrimental. There is no doubt that the dedication is there from a lot of our players. What we needed was the development. You can't build a competitive team around two or three players, you need a fully committed team. We think we can build that now so we're ready to take the next step.

 It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. They didn't feel that they were ready to participate. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

 The good thing is I cooled off toward the end of the half and at the start of the second half I didn't score a bunch. The other guys on our team started showing up, and that's what they can do. We've got good players on this team besides myself. I feel like sometimes they get overshadowed by my scoring.

 We've got a bunch of players that play as a team. We don't have guys out there trying to be the star. We've got a team and I think that's why we've had success this year.

 Boise State is exactly what we are trying to build and want to be which is a great team. When I say that I mean they are a bunch of guys who know how to win, understand what their coaches want and execute under all situations.

 You have a bunch of guys from a bunch of different places, playing a bunch of different ways. You have to somehow corral them and try to bring them in as one. We didn't accomplish that here this week, but we did give them the information how we're going to try to do that.

 We build this team for this exact scenario. You never like to lose guys to injuries but we put this team together over the winter and build it with guys who can fill in. At least four guys in the bullpen started in major league games and fully capable of seizing this opportunity and keeping us afloat.

 Some guys were not on the same page, ... Some players were working harder than other players. Some guys were committed to winning, some guys weren't. It was a little dysfunctional in the group.

 Our goal has been to make sure we could have a team we could build around, to be around these coaches and learn Day 1 from them. That's been the objective. And I think we have the same amount of second-year players on this team as we do first-year players. The process will continue and the nice part of it is there's still the core of those champions here that these young guys can play with. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm.

 I didn't see anyone looking and wondering if someone was going to show up out of the blue. It's part of their lives. Players are in and players are out all through the season. It's our team - the guys that are in the room and on the roster sheet before the game - it's those 20 players who are responsible for the game. It's not the guys who aren't there.

 All I know is I've got a bunch of players coming in off the course and telling me the other team is making them look bad. Gary said he just didn't understand (the agreement).

 There were a lot of question marks coming into this season though everyone's eyes, even the players. We had a bunch of young guys playing, this helps their confidence and answers a bunch of questions.

 They really complement each other really well. They're not just all post players or a bunch of point guards. They really are a complete basketball team. You pick your poison with those guys.
